August 2020 – An issue has arisen

Hello, readers. This is Jeremy speaking from the here and now, as opposed to back in the 1920’s where our story left off. Unfortunately, we need to address an issue that has come up.

As recently as yesterday, August 3rd, 2020, a website called hockeybull.com has been posting articles from here at First Line Rover under a different author’s name without any permission of any kind from me. The only thing I was given was a small “Source Link” at the bottom of the page that’s completely hidden in plain sight. Not only that, there is no form of contact I can use to reach out to these people on their website. Not even a simple email address.

Links can be found here to their site for you to be the judge:

None of these articles were written by “John”. None of these articles have anything to do with US Field Hockey. It is abundantly clear that this site has no idea what they’re looking at, yet they are stealing it nonetheless.

If they asked me to post it on their site, using my name and proper attribution, I’d be more than happy to share it with them. I use this site to tell a story, and the more people who read the story the better. But I deserve the credit for creating this content, not this “John”, if that even is their real name.

Plagiarism is theft of intellectual property. If hockeybull.com makes a penny off of my material, that is even worse than simple plagiarism. It’s stealing an opportunity that could have taken me and my site to bigger and better places. Their stealing of my work is preventing the advancement of my site and preventing other readers from appreciating this content from it’s original source, myself.

I’m actually curious if the site is going to rip this article off also. They already got my post earlier this morning. If that does happen, it shows that these people are unabashed thieves who have no place posting content on the internet. I don’t know how many other content creators they have stolen from, but I want to set an example to stop them in their tracks.

Plagiarism is wrong, fellow readers. Please pass the message along. Content creators deserve credit for the hard work they put in to making your day just a little bit better.

Until this issue is settled, First Line Rover will be on a temporary hiatus. Hopefully this issue will be settled soon, and we can continue exploring the wonderful world of NHL history together.
